Four new Salesian priests ordained in Myanmar

By Fr. Leo Mang, SDB

Anisakan, Myanmar, 24 May 2018 -- On the Feast-day of our Mother Mary, Help of Christians (May 24) we are blessed with four new Salesian priests: Fr. Andrea Maung, Fr. John Tenew Lian Za Uk, Fr. John Shine Win and Fr. Paschal Kyaw Min Htun.

They were ordained by the Archbishop of Mandalay Nicholas Mang Thang, together with other 3 Bishops and 56 priests, while another 150 religious and more than 1700 faithful participated on the solemn Eucharist in Anisakan, Myanmar.

The quasi-parish of Mary Help of Christians is happy to host again so many youth and Catholics coming from many corners of our country. This ordination happens just 6 days after another Salesian priestly ordination of our first MYM missionary in Africa - South Sudan, Fr. Francisco Biu.

After the thanksgiving Mass in their respective home parishes and Salesian houses, the new priest will return to Paranaque - Manila, in order to complete their theology study and degree requierments. Another three classmates of our new priests were ordained on the same day (May 24th) in the province of Philippines South in Cebu.

We pray, that our new Salesian priest 'will bring to the common work of promoting human development and educating in the faith the specific quality of their ministry, which makes them a sing of Christ the Good Shepherd..." (SDB Const. 45)
