Manila, Philippines, November 4, 2015 - After winning Best Entertainment Column for five straight years from 2010 to 2014, Fr. Bernard ‘Drans’ Nolasco’s “Between the Lines” was elevated to the Hall of Fame at the 37th Catholic Mass Media Awards (CMMA). The Salesian priest gratefully received his trophy last November 4, 2015 at the Star Theater in Pasay City.

The CMMA grants the Hall of Fame Award to “excellent mass media works, rooted in Filipino and Christian values, that have been proven to stand the test of time.” Fr. Drans’ much-loved column in the youth magazine Word & Life met that criteria, mixing pop/rock music with spiritual reflections that can be profound in its simplicity, and refreshing in its take on hit songs like “Titanium,” “Best Day of My Life,” and even “Turning Tables.”

The Award is doubly special for the Salesians as they celebrate this year the 200th Birth Anniversary of their beloved founder, St. John Bosco, who is known as the “Father and Teacher of Youth.” Don Bosco revolutionized the education system during his time with his emphasis on reason, religion, and loving kindness instead of the widely-used system of stern discipline and punishment. The saint also wrote and published various materials like newsletters, biographies, plays, prayers, reflections, and history books.
