The Don Bosco Postnovitiate Community (SDB) and the Mary Help of Christians College (MHCC) of the Salesian Sisters co-presented an academy in honor of the Immaculate Conception last December 7, 2015 at 8:00 pm at the gymnasium of MHCC. Entitled “The Wedding Reception”, the story depicts a modern mash-up up the Wedding at Cana and The Prodigal Son as plot but speaks boldly of the important role of Mary in the life of every family. Br. Paul Dungca, SDB, second year postnovice and script writer of the DB200 musicale Cetera Tolle of FIN, wrote the script while Br. Jojo Valenzuela, SDB, first year postnovice, directed the production composed of the Salesian Postnovices, selected students from MHCC and selected students of the Religious and Pastoral Communication sector of Don Bosco College (DBC). The grand choir of MHCC, FMAs and Postnovices rendered the grand song of the “Magnificat” to open the night followed by the colorful and musical production.

Fr. Patrick Villasanta, SDB, one of the formators of the Postnovitiate, gave the traditional goodnight talk. He congratulated the company for a beautiful and thought provoking presentation. He is also celebrating his 24th anniversary of priesthood that day. More than 400 SDBs, FMAs from neighboring communities, SDB and FMA aspirants, prenovices and novices, students of DBC and MHCC and other young people in their apostolate areas.

This is a continuation of the tradition during the time of Don Bosco to help prepare spiritually the young people for an important feast. Likewise, the production was a formative experience for the postnovices especially in the aspect of animating young people and spreading devotion to Mary which are part of the formative experience of the postnovitiate.

We hope that through this effort, there may be more opportunities for the SDBs and FMAs to make more impact to the community.
