Vietnam 31 December 2020 –- Christmas is the season of hope, love, joy and peace. It is time for the faithful to send best wishes to their relatives, friends and loved ones.
Fr. Joseph Quang sent his season’s greetings to all Salesians and Salesian family members of the Vietnam province through a 15-minute video clip together with a short introduction to the Strenna 2021 of the Rector Major. It was posted on the province's YouTube channel and sent via email to all the confreres and members of the Salesian Family on 24 December 2020.
In order to share Christmas joy and help people especially young people prepare well to welcome the Child Jesus during Christmas celebration, the social communication commission of the province also made a special 40-minute episode. It was the initiative of some cooperators of social communication commission. It includes three parts: the first part is Christmas preparations and greetings through short video clips of Vietnamese Salesians working and studying in seven different countries: Israel, Italy, Philippines, Bolivia, Paraguay, Australia and Kenya; the second part is a short interview of Fr. Joseph Nguyen Ngoc Vinh, SDB (Master of Biblical Exegesis and Doctor of Biblical Theology) about the meaning of the Christmas celebration; and the third part is the Christmas atmosphere and greetings from six communities in Vietnam.
It was really meaningful and joyful to see and to feel the Christmas atmosphere around the world where the Salesians are present and working for young people together with their activities to bring and share Christmas joy with many poor young people.
Although many places could not celebrate Christmas as usual because of Covid 19 people could still prepare and celebrate Christmas meaningfully and joyfully in their own conditions.
We gladly send you the greetings from the Vietnamese Salesians in Vietnam and around the world, and from the young people in our care. We wish all of you a merry Christmas and a blessed new year!
