Two Salesian Journalist Manuals published in India

By our own correspondent

RMG, 17 August 2020 -- Yesterday we greeted each other - Happy Birthday to you - while celebrating the 205th Birthday of our Father and Founder Don Bosco! We all know Don Bosco and recognize him as a Father and Teacher of Youth - Educator, Founder of the large Salesian Family, Missionary and Evangelizer but also a great Social Communicator.

In the fast changing world of Social Communication, more and more Salesian Family members are involved by virtue or necessity in 'news-sharing' or even more directly in Journalism in many ways. In this situation we are grateful to receive in our hands two new publications of Fr Francis Karackat (India-Province of Bangalore) - "Journalism: A Manual for Budding Reporters" (Don Bosco Books, Kochi-India, 244 pages) and "Journalism: A Manual for Budding Subeditors" (Don Bosco Books, Kochi-India, 264 pages).

Both books are the result of the 18 years of academic pursuit as a journalism lecturer by Fr Francis Karackat, who is a well known Malayalam writer and also Chief editor of a secular magazine. Fr Francis is happy to share these two publications (copy-give): "Since these books were published to guide people across the world interested in mastering the art of writing, you can share the digital version with others. I have an exclusive YouTube channel, launched a week ago, with journalism sessions."

Upon request the digital copy can be send to any interested Salesian Family member! Happy 205th Birthday of Don Bosco!
