Fr. John Lee Memorial Hall, Busan, South Korea, 17 April 2020 -- From 6-30 April the Busan Fr John Lee Memorial hall (Director - Fr Sebastian Lee, SDB ) together with the 'True Love' Association based in Busan, Soe Ku Gu - Song Do Dong (http://el-love.com/main/page.html?pid=9),have been committed to distributing a total of 600 lunch boxes (Fr John Lee Center made, with Pizza, Pasta and other items) to economically fragile families' children in the district. Three times a day the 'Lunch Boxes (골목도시락) are being distributed to 10 families in need, with the help of local government social workers.

Only one month after the official opening and blessing of the Fr John Lee Memorial Hall on 14 January during the Covid-19 emergency situation, together with other public institutions the Center was forced to close its activities.

The 'lunch boxes' are being cooked daily in the Fr Lee Tae Seok Memorial Hall Cafe (Br. Harold Kwon in charge). As part of the ordinary center activities the cafe serves not only for visitors, but also as a vocational training opportunity to facilitate the employment of Busan's youth in need.

As of now, only three groups of Salesian Family are to be found in Busan diocese: FMA communities (house of spirituality and parish work), an SDB community (just begun) and one Salesian Cooperators Center.

We pray that during the Fr. John Lee (1962-2020) 10th anniversary year this new Salesian presence will gradually become more deeply rooted in Busan society and the local Church.
