Myitkyina, Myanmar 30 January 2022 -- On the first day of 2022, God blessed our province with the new mission, St Michael Parish, entrusted by Myikyina diocese, in the northern state of Myanmar. This parish comprises of six mission-stations. The parish is very rich with the poor people. Many of the families live in the hand to mouth economic condition. Poor though they may be, they are blessed with the spirit of generosity.

Last Christmas (2021), many bishops encouraged their faithful not to celebrate Christmas externally to show the solidarity with the suffering people of the country due to the political situation. Following the instruction of their shepherds, our parishioners sacrificed their external expenses and instead they contributed to the parish to share with the less fortunate parishioners. With the contributions of our own parishioners the parish priest and the parish council arranged the rice, the oil, the onion and the garlic, etc., the basic food items and distributed to our 37 less fortunate families. We hope in future we would able to work for the poor people in our parish for the greater glory of God.
