Brunswick, Melbourne, Australia, 19 December 2023 -- Saint Margaret Mary's Parish in Brunswick came together to express their hearts of gratitude to Father Michael Ledda SDB for his commitment and dedication to the parish for 16 years. It was also a special occasion as Father Ledda celebrated his 65 years of Religious Profession and over 50 years as a Salesian Priest.

Father Michael was as the main celebrant during the special commemorative Mass. He was joined by Father Phil Gleeson (Rector), Father Anthony Quang (Parish Priest), Father Jan Walenciej, and Father John Prest. Together, they led the congregation in celebrating Father Michael's unwavering commitment and dedication to his faith. Brother Michael Lynch and Brother Dat Phung also joined the congregation.

The church was filled to capacity with proud friends and Salesian confreres and hostel residents, and, most importantly, members of the parish community. The love and support that emanated from the gathered crowd was a testament to the impact Father Michael has made on the lives of so many.

During his heartfelt homily, he took the congregation through a journey down memory lane. He shared personal unforgettable memories from his early days as a Salesian. His words painted a vivid picture of the challenges he faced, the triumphs he experienced, and the unwavering faith that carried him through it all. It was a touching and emotional tribute to a man who has dedicated his life to serving others and spreading the message of love.

His achievements were a testament to the power of faith and the profound effect one person can have on a community. His selfless dedication, unwavering commitment, and unshakeable faith have left an indelible mark on the lives of those he has touched. As the parishioners of Saint Margaret Mary's Parish gather to thank him for his commitment and effort, they do so with deep respect and gratitude for his inspiring journey as a Salesian and his profound impact on their lives.

After the Eucharistic celebration, the parish community came together to honour Father Michael with a delightful lunch. It was a time for everyone to share stories, laughter, and express their gratitude for the contributions he had made both locally and beyond. The joyful atmosphere was infectious, and it was clear that Father Ledda's impact reached far beyond the confines of the parish walls. Father Michael is still active in his ministry with community masses in our Salesian Community in Brunswick and Italian masses in the parish.
