Archdiocesan Shrine of Our Lady of Lourdes, 14 October 2023 -- In solidarity with the conclusion of the Don Bosco Global Youth Film Festival in the heart of world entertainment, Los Angeles, California, the youth of Lourdes Parish screened the shortlisted films from the festival. They gathered in the parish gym and were offered free popcorn by the youth leaders as they shared stories from other youth worldwide.
"There were beautiful and inspiring stories," shared Sean, one of those who attended the screening. "I think we can do something like those short films, or even much better," said Clint, one of the youth leaders.
Half a world away, Fr. Harris Pakkam, SDB, and the rest of the Social Communications sector from Rome were giving out awards to the world finalists. The DBGYFF ran with the theme, "Love builds Solidarity and Peace." Through the medium of short films, young people are given the focus, the helm, and the power to share their stories.
