Seoul, Korea, 28 October 2022 -- On the evening of October 22, 2022 after a long period of the pandemic, the Don Bosco Youth Center (DBYC) - Vocational Training Center, founded in 1967, some 40 Past Pupils came together in the Bi-di-Korea & Büce factory building in Incheon city (https://bdkorea.com/en) to share and celebrate. At the center was their long-time mentor, Salesian Brother Mario Bois (Italian missionary in South Korea since 1964), still dynamic and active at 80 years of age.

A heartfelt family event carefully prepared by the past pupils leadership (DBYC Association president Mr Kim Won-soo, batch 21) consisted of the presentation of participants, a short videoclip with the recent history and achievements of the past pupils and appreciation of the DBYC past pupils support for the Khartoum (Sudan) based Vocation Training Center of St Joseph. After a short sharing and photo session in the education hall of the enterprise. Then followed the 80th birthday of Br Marino congratulations and joined dinner.

Besides the senior and young Don Bosco Past Pupils and the celebrant Br. Marino, Br. Peter Choi, SDB (former principal of the VTC) and Fr Vaclav Klement, SDB were present. Since 1964 more than 3000 young people have received a solid human, professional and Christian education in this unique TVET of the Korea province. During the gathering a short 5 minutes video-clip greeting from Mr Niel Evangelista, GEX councilor for Asia-Oceania of DB Past Pupils World Confederation was also shared. His invitation to involve the younger generations was welcomed by one 30 year-old participant (batch 41, graduate 2010).

Since both Brothers - Marino and Peter - are now engaged in the Khartoum-Sudan TVET mission repair and update of the mechanics section, the Past Pupils are invited to help with their expertise and also in kind (equipment and machine donation) or with financial support. Br Marino very much appreciated the Past Pupils support and invited them to continue, since the two Salesian brothers are leaving again for their technical mission in Sudan once more at the end of this year. Ad multos annos!
