By Sr. Anh Thi, FMA

FMA Tam Ha, Vietnam, 19 July 2022 -- With gratitude to God and Mary Help of Christians, on the occasion of the 150th Anniversary of the FMA Institute, on July 16, 2022, in the provincial house in Tam Ha, the Sisters of Mary Help of Christians Province (VTN) conducted a meeting with their parents and relatives who live in the Southern Vietnam and inaugurated the History and Spirit Exhibition Room.

In the early morning, the Sisters’ parents and relatives from provinces far from Saigon were present. The joy of welcoming and closeness of the parents with the Sisters and each other created a warm family day.

The Thanksgiving Mass was celebrated by Fr. Joseph Nguyen Kim Khanh – the Vice-Provincial of the Salesians of Don Bosco Vietnam, and concelebrated by two of the Sisters' relatives. In his homily, with simplicity and closeness, Fr. Joseph thanked the parents for dedicating their daughters to God, thanked them for their good example in their lives which have been the foundation for the Sisters’ faith. With a few short stories, he made his homily joyful, meaningful and profound.

After the Mass, Fr. Joseph and Sr. Maria Hoang Thi Thu Ha, the Provincial, and Sr. Maddalena cut the ribbon to inaugurate the HISTORY and SPIRIT Exhibition Room. During a short break, everyone visited the exhibition room.

After the break Sr. Maria, the Provincial, shared her thoughts. Representing the Sisters in the Province, she expressed her gratitude to the parents for their presence, and the love and care that they have given to the Institute and the Province. And in the warm and loving atmosphere of family, she also shared some feelings when celebrating the 150th Anniversary of the FMA Institute.

Next, Sr. Maria Hoang Ngoc Yen, Provincial Councilor, invited everyone to go back to Mornese – Northern Italy, where St Mary Domenica Mazzarello was born, and she shared with the community about Mother Mazzarello with highlights of her life journey. The illustrated presentation with different art forms also showed God’s love and providence in the Institute’s foundation through Saint John Bosco and Saint Mary Mazzarello.

The program was followed by an intimate family party and then each family received a souvenir from the Province.

The Family Meeting Day ended with joy and a warm relationship. May the Blessed Virgin Mary, Help of Christians always walk around in each family, protect and keep the parents and everyone in peace.
