FIN, 21 April 2022 -- via Zoom, Youtube, and Facebook Live, the Philippines-North Province (FIN)–The Vocation Animation Ministry Head of the FIN Province Fr. Jayson B. David, SDB, in cooperation with the various sectors of the Salesian Family in the Province, along with social media shows such as VocTok and D’Word organized the Salesian Family Vocation Festival dubbed as Homebound: Where Love stays in God’s embrace.

It aims to promote and share the rich history of the 10 Salesian families in the Philippines with young people, in the hopes that they will become a part of it in the near future.

There are 10 Salesian families that are currently active in the Philippines namely: The Salesians of Don Bosco (SDB); Daughters of Mary Help of Christians (FMA); Volunteers of Don Bosco (VDB); Volunteers Con Don Bosco (CDB); Caritas Sister of Jesus (CSJ); Association of Salesian Cooperators (ASC); Asociación Damas Salesianas (FADS); Past Pupils of Don Bosco (PPDB); Past Pupils of FMA (PPFMA); Association of Mary Help of Christians (ADMA).

Amidst the pandemic, the event acts as a homecoming and reunion for the members of the Salesian Family, allowing them to get to know each other better through an online gathering and creative videos.

The main highlight of the event is the presentation of each video of the 10 Salesian families containing their history, purpose, and the uniqueness of their sectors from the rest. The VocTok team made sure that each video highlights important details about each sector with a creative twist.

Different Salesian communities and schools from the FIN Province participated in the event that concluded with a Gospel Sharing prepared by D’Word.

The hosts, Br. Roj Mallari, SDB; Cl. Jess Lumabao, and Ms. Ferl Llarosa made sure that the event is interactive with the viewers through shoutouts, giveaways, and question-and-answer portions with prizes. The viewership peaked at 600 viewers via Zoom and Facebook Live.

The comment section from both the Zoom and Facebook Live exploded with support from the members of the 10 Salesian families and also an exchange of greetings between them.

In the latter part of the program, the participants of the event are asked to break into groups which are facilitated by the aspirants of Don Bosco Prenovitiate Community, brothers from Don Bosco Postnovitiate Community, Sisters from FMA, and lay volunteers to conclude the evening with a gospel sharing activity prepared by the D’Word team.

These kinds of events really show that Don Bosco’s mission of serving the young doesn’t exactly fall upon one family. In fact, every family has its own way of serving the young which is inspired by Don Bosco that up until this day gets carried by the members of the 10 Salesian Families.
