Ho Chi Minh City, Viet Nam, 17 March 2022 -- Speaking about the tragedy of war that has been happening in recent days, the Holy Father invited the faithful to pray to the Lord more fervently for dialogue between world leaders and peace in the world. He called for fasting and prayer for peace in Ukraine on Ash Wednesday, a day to be close to the suffering of the Ukrainian people, so that we can all feel as brothers and sisters and pray to God for an end to the war.

The Rector Major in his first letter about the war in Ukraine also asked everyone to pray fervently to God through Our Mary Help of Christians, who is “Mother and help to Christians in these difficult times.”

Besides, Father Miguel Angel García Morcuende, General Councillor for Youth Ministry, and Sister Runita Borja, FMA General Councillor for Youth Ministry of the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians also appealed to young people from the Salesian Youth Movement (SYM), the Salesian Delegates for Youth Ministry, and the SYM Coordinators in Europe, so that all can work through prayer and initiatives to raise awareness, solidarity, and closeness.

Responding to these calls, at 8 pm each day from Friday, March 4 to Saturday, March 12, the young people of Don Bosco Tam Hai parish in Ho Chi Minh City, accompanied by Fr. Bosco Tien Dung, the Salesian in charge of the Youth Group, held a Novena at the Parish Church. They gathered to pray to God through prayers, Rosary and Eucharist adoration for peace in the world, to be close to the sufferings of the Ukrainian people, to feel the spirit of solidarity and fraternity, and for an end to the war in Ukraine.

The young people invited all members of the parish to participate in the Novena.
