Hong Kong, China, 12 March 2022 -- As the humanitarian crisis in Ukraine is getting worse, we, the students and teachers of Instituto Salesiano in Macau, joined together on 4 March, 2022 in order to offer our prayer to all the refugees and victims in the war of Ukraine.

There were around 60 participants joined the gathering which lasted for around 40 minutes during their lunch hour. All the participants prepared a very simple lunch for themselves and joined the gathering which divided to different parts.

First of all, some video clips to understand the seriousness of the situation in Ukraine were broadcasted; then some student leader read some news about the situation and challenges of the Salesians in Ukraine; also the supervisor of IS Macau, Fr Martin Yip presented the teaching of the Church on the issue of violence means and just war; finally, under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, we offer our prayer to the victims of the war by listening the word of God and singing hymns, especially the song “Make me a channel of your peace” was chosen to pray that all the students of the school can be a peace maker.

At the end of the prayer gathering, all of us took a picture with the background of Ukraine and Macau’s flag. This picture expressed a clear message that all of us stand with Ukraine, especially the Salesian who are serving the refugees and victims there. After the gathering, the teachers and students leave some messages for the youth of Ukraine.
