EAO, 25 February 2022 -- ANS has recently announced the availability of the first part of Monsignor Cimatti's meditations on St Francis de Sales. It may be of interest to austraLasia readers to know that the entire set of meditations on St Francis de Sales (and a further set on St Mary Domenica Mazzarello) is available on the Salesian Digital Library. For now these meditations have been transcribed only in their original Italian.

The complete link (just in case the one above does not function for you) is:

       http://sdl.sdb.org/greenstone3/library/collection/cimatti1/document/HASH2060c10fda45848a07c488

Alternatively, one can open SDL (sdl.sdb.org) and go to the main group called 'Salesian Holiness', inside which can be found the entire collection of Cimatti material painstakingly put together by Fr Gaetano Compri, vice-postulator for the Cause, in Chofu, Japan, where the body of Venerable Cimatti now lies.

By browsing the 'Titles' tab in the Cimatti collection and scrolling all the way down to 'Meditazioni' one can find both the Francis de Sales and Mazzarello set. Fr Compri points out, at the end of the de Sales meditations, that he has done his best to decipher the Venerable's handwriting, and that it was difficult to read at some points. Nor was it possible to identify sources. But there is no question that this is a most valuable set of meditations (written for the Rector and formation community at Chofu during the Second World War). They should find their way into English in the not-too-distant-future.
