South Korea, 5 January 2022 -- 12 years after the premature death of the Korean Salesian missionary in South Sudan, the life story of Fr John Lee continues to inspire many in South Korea and beyond. Due to the pandemic, the 10th death anniversary commemorative events have continued until January 2022.

TALES FROM AFRICA: Fr John Lee's book in English: A good Salesian Family gift is just now available on AMAZON: The only book 'Tales from Africa' written by Fr John Lee (+2010). FATHER, WILL YOU BE MY FRIEND?: Fr “John Lee’s” Africa Tales Kindle Edition; by Tae Seok Lee (Author), Myongil Yu (Editor), Henry Bonetti (Translator) Format: Kindle Edition.

LEE TAE SEOK PRIEST: Written by a very popular Catholic Writer Lee Chung Yeol (Celestino) in Korean and published by a major Korean Publishing House (https://www.gimmyoung.com) Kim Young Sa last December 2021. The 265 page documentary is enriched with many photos from childhood to the end of Fr John's life and a special attraction is the interview with Fr James Pulickal (South Sudan, Tonj parish priest) who was providential in Fr John's coming to this war-torn country for the first time in 1999 during the summer break, from the Salesian University in Rome. Two years of hard work and excellent story writing make this book a valuable contribution to getting know this very human and also very spiritual missionary figure better.

CONCERT on Fr John Lee's death anniversary (Seoul Provincial House Hall on January 12 and Busan Fr John Lee Memorial Hall on January 15) brings the Korean publication also to the wider public with the presence of the author Lee Chung Yeol.

And of course, the YouTube, Korean Public and Catholic Media dedicated a lot of attention to this Salesian missionary during last two months. He still attracts not only volunteers for missionary life or benefactors to the African mission cause, but also inspires new generations of young people to follow Jesus with the heart of Don Bosco. One of the 3 new SDB prenovices in Korea is also among them.
