Comoro-Dili, Timor Leste, 20 December 2021 -- As the 2021 School Year in Timor-Leste has concluded and the New Year 2022 is around the corner, the Commission for Formation of the TLS Vice-Province has organised formative activities for all the Salesians in all stage of formation.

On 18-19 December 2021 formation for the Salesian Brothers was held in Don Bosco Comoro. 12 Salesian Brothers (8 brothers with perpetual vows and 3 brothers in practical training) attended the formation. The topic of the formation was Self-Image and Self-Esteem and the resource person was Fr. Jose San Juan SDB (Fr. Jojo). Fr. Jojo animated the two days of formative activities with his three sessions of presentations during the day and the adoration of the Blessed Sacrament in the evening. This formative activity is a kind of psycho-spiritual type of formation that helps build and improve one’s self-image and self-esteem.

The highlights of presentations are that Self-Image refers to one’s idea or concept about himself as a person and it implies one’s evaluation of one’s self. Self-Esteem is the genuine acceptance and appreciation of oneself with regard to one’s positive qualities and limitations.

Apart from the presentations given by the resource person, this formative activity was also an opportune moment binding the Salesian Brothers together to enrich each other and particularly to strengthen each other vocation through sharing and togetherness as brothers in Christ and in Don Bosco.

The formation ended with a farewell address from Fr. Manuel Pinto SDB, Vice-Provincial and the Province Delegate for Formation. He thanked each and every brother who had set aside all preoccupations and come to attend the formation which is one of the core elements of our religious life. He also highlighted how beautiful the coadjutor’s vocation is and how important the active presence of the coadjutor/brothers is in the Salesian’s mission especially in the world of works.
