Don Bosco Xuan Hiep, The VIE Theologate Community

By Augustine DoPhuc,SDB

Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, 6 December 2021 -- At 5:30 am on 04 December 2021, at Philip Rinaldi Xuan Hiep Community (Thu Duc, Ho Chi Minh City), a Mass took place to celebrate the Feast of Blessed Philip Rinaldi, patron of the Community. As in previous years, at this Holy Mass, the celebrant - Vice Provincial Father Joseph Nguyen Kim Khanh SDB, represented Father Provincial to celebrate the ceremony of giving the cassocks and the ministries of Lector and Acolyte for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd year students of theology.

Concelebrating with Father Vice Provincial were Father Joseph Do Duc Dung, the provincial councillor for Formation, Father Rector, and the Salesians in the Theological Community.

This year, in the Salesian Province of Vietnam, 5 Brothers received the cassocks: Peter Nguyen Cong Chinh, Peter Nguyen Dinh Chung, Dominic Le Hoang Truong Son, Vincent Nguyen Van Thu and Joseph Nguyen Toan Thuc; 6 confreres received the Lector ministry: Anton Nguyen Van Hoang, Dominic Do Dang Khoa, John Nguyen Mai Dang Khoa, Peter Pham Tan Luc, Peter Tran Van Mao and Joseph Tran Viet Phuong; and 5 confreres received the Acolyte ministry: Joseph Ho Chinh, Anthony Ngo Manh Lam, John B. Nguyen Trong Nhan, John B. Nguyen Duy Quang and Joseph Pham Van Thong.

By wearing the cassocks, they expressed a great determination to give up their old self to put on the new self of Christ. As a result, they become more and more true images of the Good Shepherd for the youth of today. By receiving the ministries of Lector and Acolyte, they can contribute to serving the Word of God and serving the Altar in the celebration of Mass. While carrying out those ministries, they are also preparing themselves to receive the holy orders in the future to serve the People of God more effectively.
