The Holy Martyrs of Vietnam

By Augustine DoPhuc, SDB

Provincial House, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, 24 November 2021 -- At 10:30 a.m on 24 November 2021, in the chapel of the Provincial Community, a Mass took place to celebrate the Vietnamese Martyrs. It was also the Patron Day of the Provincial Community (Linh Xuan, Thu Duc, Saigon). Unlike other years, this year’s Mass was limited to the community.

The Provincial, Fr Barnabas Le An Phong SDB, shared in the homily that: “The presence of man in history is only a small part compared to God - who is the Lord of time. However, in that limited time, man can live forever in history by faith and love that is steadfast to the end. The Vietnamese Martyrs have passed on that faith and love to generations, and each of us is also being called to continue writing that heroic history as Witnesses of Love in modern times.”

At the end of the Mass, the Fathers and Brothers took a souvenir photo together before enjoying a family meal.
