Vietnam 24 August 2021 -- On Sunday, 15 August 2021, Fr. Augustine Chu Dang Chan, SDB former rector of K’Long Community, presided at the installation Mass of Fr. Joseph Tran Van Hien, SDB, newly appointed rector of this community.

The Mass was celebrated in the small chapel of K’Long retreat center. Co-celebrants were Salesian priests in the community. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the participants were only the K’Long Retreat Center resident staffs.

In his homily, Fr. Augustine shared the meaning of the feast of the Assumption of Mary into Heaven. Next, he shared about his life, especially in the role of rector over the years. He then talked about the new rector and the position he was about to accept, and he invited everyone in the community to collaborate with the new rector in his assignment.

After the homily, there was a confession of faith by the new rector. Because of the Covid 19 pandemic, Father Provincial authorized the former rector to accept this confession. Father Joseph laid his hands on the Bible to make his confession before God, the Congregation and the Salesians in the community. The confession expressed his new responsibility to the Congregation and to the confreres in the community.

After Mass, the community had a family meal to celebrate the feast of Mary and the new rector of the Community.
