Ubonratchathani, Thailand, 10 August 2021 -- In the midst of the Covid-19 crises which is continuously getting graver by the day in Thailand, clearly affecting the daily life of the people, the Salesian Family of Thailand has not been still in the face of this situation.

On 26-27 July 2021, the Sisters of the Queenship of Mary together with the administrative staff, the teachers and the school personnel of Mother Mary School - Ubonratchathani, under the leadership of Sr. Teresa Rungnapa Santisirinirun and Sr. Bernadette Navanan Saanyakul went out to visit the villagers and brought food packages to those affected by the Covid-19 virus - to the aged and bed-ridden patients of Baan Nahaithong Village, Baan Samran Village, Baan Thepha Village, Baan Nakham Village and many others, located in the countryside of Ubonratchathani Province.

The villages which were a mixture of Catholics and non-Catholics alike, all received the help from the Sisters. Sr. Teresa Rungnapa said: "we visited every one who needed help without any prejudice of religion. Even though what we shared were not so much, yet they brought joy both to the receivers and the givers. We have seen the tears of joy of the villagers; they were so happy that some people remembered them."

The visit to the villagers made us understand their misery and grasped their real situation. Some villages do not have yet the road; we need to walk through the rice fields. Some villages have handicapped and old people who have not received proper care. The visit and the sharing of food packages have brought encouragement to the villagers to live with hope.

The Sisters of the Queenship of Mary Immaculate are members of the Salesian Family, founded by the Servant of God Fr Carlo Della Torre SDB, (1900-1982). These sisters are dedicated to the education of the young through schools. They also work in various capacities in the Catholic Dioceses of Thailand, namely, in Bangkok, Surat Thani, Nakhon Ratchasima, and Ubonratchathani.
