DB House, Suva, Fiji Islands, 23 June 2021 -- On Saturday, 19 June, the community prepared small food parcels for some families living around the area that are affected by the second wave of the Covid pandemic.

We were able to see the families from a safe distance and deliver the little help we could offer at the gate. It was exciting and sheer joy to see the youngsters and to have a quick chat with other family members. The restrictions have severely limited our contact with the young people and our regular pastoral activities. So, we try this and other ways to keep in touch through digital communications.

Covid-19 has been a distraction in so many ways. The classes we normally attend at the seminary are now online. While the daily Eucharist is celebrated only for the community, it is live-streamed for the people. Our community program had to be changed to fit in with the daily curfew which is from 6 pm to 4 am the next morning.

But we must find different ways and opportunities to keep in touch with the people and especially with the young people. And In the long quiet moments of the day and night, our prayers, our thoughts and love are with the sick and suffering, with the restless and the helpless. May our Blessed Mother continue to protect us all and the Lord in his mercy bring healing and strength to all.
