5617(III)_Solemnity of Mary Help of Christians, Lahore

       Lahore, Pakistan, 25 May 2021 -- The Salesian community of Lahore celebrated the Solemnity of Mary Help of Christians on 24 May 2021 with the presence of some staff members and students, as well as the group of Salesian aspirants and representatives of the group of alumni and Salesians Cooperators.

       Due the lockdown conditions, the celebration was simple but significant. It began with the prayer of the Rosary in a procession towards the place for the Celebration of Holy Mass, followed for a moment of recreation and a delicious meal.

​​​​​​​       A significant moment was the official announcement of the new Provincial Delegate for Pakistan for the period 2021-2024. The Rector Major, on 21 April, appointed Fr Gabriel Cruz SDB, a Mexican missionary, for this service. In his 15 years as a Salesian Priest and 24 years of Salesian Religious Life, he has previously served as Professor and Formator of different Formation Houses and as Rector of the Interprovincial Post-noviciate in Mexico, as well as having specializations in Pedagogy, Philosophy, Theology of Religions and Missiology.

​​​​​​​       During the celebration the community prayed for Fr Noble Lal and Fr Samuel Adnan, Rectors of Lahore and Quetta communities, for their Anniversary of Priestly Ordination. The educational and Salesian community of Lahore thanked Mary Help of Christians for her precious protection, and asking her intercession so that Salesians can continue to serve so many young people in Pakistan.
