Melbourne, Australia, 4 February 2021 -- Many members of the Salesian Family in Melbourne celebrated the solemnity of St John Bosco at the parish church next door to Don Bosco Formation House in Clifton Hill on Sunday 31st January. It is the day Don Bosco died in Turin, Italy in 1888.

The Eucharist led by the Provincial, Fr Will Matthews, began at 5:00 pm. Many Salesian priests including the new Vice Provincial and the new Rector of the Formation House, Fr Peter Rankin, con-celebrated the Eucharist. A number of Salesian Brothers and Sisters also participated in the celebration.

During the Eucharist, three Salesian clerics: Br Eteuati Milo, Br Kevin Fiame and Br Jeff Miller made their Perpetual Profession as Salesians into the hands of the Provincial who represented the Rector Major of the Salesian Congregation.

The whole celebration of the Eucharist was graced by the Salesian Samoan Choir with their beautiful singing and liturgical dances. Samoa is part of the Australia-Pacific Province where Salesians have been working for the education of the young in the past 42 years.

It was the first major gathering and celebration of the Salesian Family in Melbourne in many months due to COVID19 restrictions.
