Seoul, ASC Korea, 29 September 2020 -- Like many other EAO Salesian Cooperators, Korea province too has elected its new provincial council and in spite of the special restrictions of the pandemic situation, ordinary life continues.

The province-wide formation events like provincial formation day (annual conference), are being held by each local center with support from the provincial council, and the Martelli Center in Gwangju (photos) held this important formation event in their own place of monthly encounters, in the Salesian high school Salesian house. Even the Aspirants Formation school restarts in September, as usual with an online conference and online 'homework'.

Under the dynamic new provincial council (Coordinator Mr. Andrew Park) and with the very frequent online communication the province is well animated: the preparations for the annual promise of new members, usually held in Korea during the Advent season, are smoothly going on and the update of the recently launched new provincial website is on the way.

During the present ‘Laudato Si’ year, the awareness campaign among the Salesian Cooperators is facilitated by many audiovisual materials distributed through the provincial council. Like most of the EAO provinces, the Korean Cooperators accepted to join the Laudato Si week last May and also registered with the Don Bosco Green Alliance with their triple commitment: 1. Live Simple, 2. Minimise Food and Water Waste and 3. Educate Youth.

Last but not the least, the Salesian Cooperators will offer a farewell to their provincial delegate, Fr Mark Yang (Korean missionary in Cambodia, THA), who accompanied them during his study stay in his homeland. Fr. Bosco Park, current rector of Gwangju formation house (aspirantate and postnovitiate) was appointed their SDB new provincial delegate.

On Saturday (October 3) when most of the East Asian people celebrate their Autumn Full Moon Festival, some of the Korean Cooperators will be happy to meet and also to look towards our EAO regional congress. During the ‘test online meeting’ we have been excited to also meet Samoan Cooperators with their Delegate.
