Annual retreat of the Thailand Salesian Aspirants in Hua Hin

Hua Hin, Thailand, 29 July 2020 -- Fr. John Somchart SDB, rector of Nazareth House, organised the 2020 annual spiritual retreat for the Salesian aspirants of Nazareth House together with the aspirants from Hua Hin on 25-28 July 2020. This retreat was facilitated by Fr Anusit Chanphen SDB at the Salesian Retreat House Hua Hin.

There were 43 aspirants who participated in the retreat, with the theme “Salesian Aspirants are walking together with Jesus Christ through the spirit of Don Bosco.” Fr. Anusit led them to reflect upon:

1. Building unity in the body Christ

2. The Call to mission as Salesian Aspirants

3. Social media and a young saint: Reflecting of the life of Ven. Carlo Acutis

4. A unique masterpiece of God

5. Salesian youth spirituality

Through various input sessions and activities, the aspirants were able to utilise the occasion to reflect upon their own lives in relation to Christ and others, to help them appreciate the importance of prayer life and proper use of social media in proclaiming the Good News in a Salesian style. The hope is that they will grow as young ambassadors of Christ, united closely with God and bringing others to encounter the loving mercy of God, like Don Bosco.

During the last day of the retreat, Fr. Dheparat Pitisant SDB, provincial of the Thai Province, presided over the Eucharistic celebration which concluded the 2020 retreat. Fr. Dheparat encouraged all the aspirants to seek the presence of God in their lives, and to find ways for doing good so as to grow as good Christians and citizens, fit for the Kingdom of Heaven.
