Dili – Comoro, Timor Leste, 3-5 July 2020 -- In the beginning of the month of July the government of Timor Leste declared the end of lockdown (State of Emergency). The country is now free to reactivate almost all the activities but we are highly recommended to be responsible to observe preventive attitudes whenever we are in public places or when there is agglomeration of people. One of the activities which we need to be more cautious in handling is school activities.

The time table of the school year in Timor Leste is almost the same across the southern hemisphere where July is the middle of the scholastic year: actually primary and secondary schools are ending their learning activities and starting the exam of the first semester while the universities and higher schools are starting their second semester.

As we are preparing to reactivate the school activities, the Executive Director of the Fundação Educacional Salesiana (Salesian Educational Foundation), Fr Acacio de Castro, sdb, organized a three day (July 3-5) formation session for teachers in Don Bosco’s Technical Schools and Training Centres. The main issues in this three-day formation are: the figure of educator in the Salesian school (given by Fr Manny Pinto), the identity of the lay-salesian educator (facilitated by Bro Helder Guterres and Fr Acacio and), how to make a lesson plan (facilitated by a group of professor from National University and they are our alumni) and protocol for teacher commitment (by Fr Gui da Silva, Provincial Economer).

The formation session at which more or less 35 participants too part, is the continuation of the formation which have done last year sponsored by Don Bosco Mondo (DB-Tech).
