Don Bosco Technical School Gabutu, Port Moresby, PNG, 21 March 2020 -- The day began with the line formation of new members of the youth groups to move into the DBTS gym for the induction after the assembly at Don Bosco Technical School. By the time everyone got in the gym, Mr Eddie Kantomu led the singing practice before the Mass began. The mass began at 8:30 with the introduction read out by Mr Matthew Timbalu emphasizing the meaning of name of St. JOSEPH, taken as an acronym: J-ust man O-bedient to the will of God, E-xample, S-ilent, P-atron and H-elper. The presiding Priest at the Mass was Fr Roger Miranda SDB, who stressed in his Homily that all of us can be like St Joseph, we have:

• to be upright citizens,
• obedient to the will of God,
• silent workers and,
• good workmen and women.

After the Prayer after Communion, the school community witnessed the indunction of the various salesian youth groups. In effect, Mr George Isoaimo presented Fr Pedro Sachutula SDB, our very own Rector of the school, to the youth groups (Readers, Marian, Knights of the Altar, Savio, Friends of Zatti, Mission, Music, Laudo Si, Juventus, Dance & Theatre ). For each of the youth groups, the pledge was lead by the animators.


At the end of the Mass, representatives from the PNG Sports Federation, who are introducing the Badminton game across the City, gave some sporting equipment in the presence of Fr Pedro and Mr Martin Dai, our principal.


Finally Ms. Stephany Saldua, the School nurse, gave to the students and teaching staff awareness on preventive measures against the treats of the COVID-19.
