Champions in the Band Contest: Open Division

Sisaket Province, Thailand, 29 December 2019 -- The brass band of Hua Hin Vitthayalai School participated in the "Thailand World Music Championships" [TWWC] - The Royal Trophy League International Bands Competition of Thailand held at the Sports Stadium of Thailand in Srisaket from the 19-21 December 2019. At the end of the competition, the school received the championship trophy in the Open Division.
After the intense musical training together with the other 4 Salesian schools to welcome the Pope in November, the band members of Hua Hin Vitthayalai School started their training camp in the school area immediately, in preparation for this contest. They used the time at the end of the school day and during weekends to practise. Everyone gave of himself intensely into the practice with patience and perseverance.
Musichas been an important part of Salesian education right from the very beginning of the youth center. Don Bosco gave importance to music by establishing a choir and a musical group at the Oratory. The Salesian schools in Thailand encourage the students to practise music, and all the schools have a brass band; they organize many activities along music lines. Being a member of the brass band helps the students to train their spirit to be compassionate and, at the same time, makes them to be orderly.
On this occasion, all the other Salesian schools send their congratulations to the band members and the trainers of Hua Hin Vitthayalai School.
