Three new EAO deacons were ordained around the world

on the Immaculate Feast 2019

By our own correspondent

EAO, 17 December 2019 -- Three Salesians from our Region were ordained as deacons and one novice made his first profession during last week. We rejoice with their provincial communities, formators and families! By origin two of them are Vietnamese missionaries in Latin America (one in Paraguay another in Peru) and Cl. Celestine Da Costa is Timorese student of theology in Portugal. And one Vietnamese novice, Cl. Antonio Nguyen Minh Truong made his first profession after 16 month of his novitiate in Ba Thon, Hon Chi Minh City on December 9,2019.

First, on 7 December 2019, the Vietnamese missionary Dominic Tran Duc Thanh with his companion Nicolas Sotowas was ordained to the diaconate in Parish of Santa Maria, Mother of the Church and St. John Bosco in Montevideo, Uruguay through the laying of hands of Salesian Cardinal Daniel Sturla, archbishop of Montevideo.

Second, on December 7, the Vietnamese missionary Peter Nguyen Thinh Huu with his companion Fredy Valdivia was ordained to the priesthood in the Basilica of Mary Help of Christians in Lima, Peru. Their ordaining Bishop was August Martin Quijano, SDB - Apostolic Vicar of Pucallpa, Peru. Their provincial, Fr Manuel Cayo and numerous Salesian family members and the familes (also from Vietnam) were present.

Third, on 8 December 2019, Timorese confrere Celestino da Costa was ordained to the diaconate in the Salesian Church of Mary Help of Christians in Estoril, Lisbon (Portugal). The ordination Eucharist was attended by the large numbers of Portugal Salesian Family and presided by Salesian Bishop Joaquim Mendes, auxiliary bishop of Lisboa.

We wish that all newly ordained confreres would walk day by day in the Joy of the Lord, always close to the young people in need!
