Profession of Perpetual Vows of 12 Salesians

By Mạng Lưới Thông Tin Gia đình Salêdiêng

Vietnam, 15 august 2019 -- The twelve Salesian brothers uttered with conviction their commitment of belonging to God after learning and living the Salesian vocation. On this day, God bestowed on these brothers the gift of Salesian consecration. This represents their faithful response to the calling of God and Don Bosco, as well as the commitment to the youth in society.

Such commitment took place in the solemn Mass of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Following the example of the Virgin Mary who God has consecrated in a special way, these brothers pledged their allegiance and loyalty to serving God.

On Thursday August 15, 2019 at precisely 9:30 am, within the solemn Mass, these Salesian brothers pledged their vows in the presence of witnesses including a representative of the Rector Major of the Father Provincial. These Salesian brothers promised to commit to God in the way of the Gospel that is outlined in the Salesian Constitutions. This profession of vows took place in the presence of other Salesians, grandparents, benefactors, relatives, and guests. These Salesian brothers were encouraged to follow the example of Don Bosco, sharing the responsibility of the apostolic plan of the Congregation, and ultimately following Christ like Don Bosco.

Today's Mass represents an important turning point in their life. This is an unforgettable mark throughout the journey of vocations from the beginning of listening to the call of God to adulthood in order to express the determination to follow Christ. Today's commitment marks a rite of passage of becoming true Salesians whose purpose is to bring Christ to the world, especially the poor, marginalized youth in society.

With them, we offer thanks to God, the Virgin Mary, and Don Bosco for the blessings, the joy of consecration, and the Salesian charism that they have received on this day. May the life of the full and eternal consecration become a priceless gift given to the world, especially to the young people whom they are sent to serve and love.
