Thai Goalball Men's Team

Pakkret, Thailand, 10 August 2019 -- The national goalball team of Thailand represented by the alumni of the Skills Development Center for the Blind joined the competition of the 2019 IBSA Goalball Youth World Championships from the 2-10 August 2019 at Penrith (Sydney), Australia. The Thai men's team successfully outscored the national team of Brazil by 5 : 4. At the end of the regular play time, the score was tied at 4 : 4, forcing extra time. The Thai team was able to make an additional goal, thereby gaining their first championship trophy for this year. The team actually got two trophies - one as the champion team, and one for the highest number of goals made. This second one was taken by Mr. Kritsada Thanyawanichphong.


Before the tournament, the Thai men's national team practiced at the Don Bosco Sports Center located within the area of the Skills Development Center for the Blind in Pakkret, Nonthaburi Province. The Center has been run by the Salesians since 1978. At present, it is under the direction of Brother Suwan Jutasompakorn, SDB.
