Hatyai, Thailand 19 June 2019 -- From the 16 - 20 June 2019, the scouts and teachers, numbering 38 in all, representing Saeng Thong Vitthaya School and Thidanukhro School in Hatyai, Songkhla Province, joined the Scouts Jamboree of the Southern Region under the theme "Scouts Volunteer To Do Good, United In Loyalty, In Honor of His Majesty-The King". The event was organized by the Ministry of Education in Laem Samila, Songkhla Municipality, Songkhla Province. 13,000 boys and girls Scouts from the 14 provinces of the Southern Region and from the nearby Asean countries (Brunei, Malaysia, Indonesia), together with the scouts from the other regions of the country came to participate in this event, whose main purpose was to celebrate the auspicious coronation of His Majesty The King, and to put into practice the advice of His Majesty through the scouting activities. There were 16 sub-camps and 4 villages. In this jamboree, the scouts and their leaders exchanged learning experiences and culture, built mutual relationships. This enabled the creation of life-skills, encouraged volunteerism, making oneself useful in society and spreading the scouting activity far and wide.


In this jamboree, the Salesian scouts were responsible for the booth on Catholic religion which was divided into various topics, like, Royalty and the Catholic Religion from Ayuthaya to The Present, the Teachings of the Catholic Religion, Volunteering, Biblical Passages, etc. This was under the leadership of Fr. Chinnawat Suvadinkul, the chaplain of the Catholic Scouts in Asia-Pacific (ICCS-APR), Bro. Thanad Anan, Mr. Pornsawad Lertvitayavivat (a Salesian Cooperator) and the team from Saengthong Vitthaya School, Songkhla Province. The participating scouts will take turns to pass through the various activity booths in groups of 980 members.


This jamboree was an occasion to announce the good news and share the Salesian charism among participants.
