Caritas Recognised as a Permitted Registered School

Caritas Technical Secondary School in West New Britain Province (WNBP) was presented its certificate of registration as a permitted school today by the Education Department’s Secretary – Dr Uke Kombra.
The school was established in 2016 with support from the Provincial Government in terms of funding and attaining the land title.
Dr Kombra says he is happy to have the school be recognised as a permitted school and has assured the school’s Directress – Sr Florentina Cho that they will receive the Tuition Fee Free (TFF) starting next year.
With a tour on the school and the science laboratory the education secretary says the department will ensure the schools science lab becomes fully kitted.
He says the school has progressed well and it is very encouraging where he wants other TVET schools in the country to follow the type of school module Caritas has in parting knowledge not just in academy but in practical skills as well.
Dr Kombra also says there is a decline in the number of girls in upper secondary even though there is enough space in schools.
In West New Britain Province (WNBP) 68 per cent of girls were in secondary where the secretary says it is pleasing to see the Caritas School having an impact on the girls lives and becoming also an agent of change for the province and the country.
Although, a technical vocational policy was passed in 2013 in Milne Bay, Dr Kombra says the department was still struggling to look for a path to implement fully but all strategies are now seen at Caritas after the school entertained the education delegates with various technical practical skills they have been taught.39267493_847924302060594_3192708315083702272_n.jpg
