Interview with Ms Lellibeth Bustillo, ASC

By Our Own Correspondent

Negros Occidental, the Philippines, 22 April 2019 -- What makes you happy as a Salesian Cooperator?

As a Salesian Cooperator, I am happy serving the Lord through the simple acts of kindness. The inexplicable fulfillment of feelings that is in depth in the heart. And also I am happy because through being a Salesian Cooperator, I brought my family together and in the process developed their faith to God.

What makes you grow in your Salesian Cooperator vocation and mission?

Through the continuous formation, my faith in God and following the teaching of Don Bosco and the fellowship in each of my fellow Cooperator contribute a big impact in my being a Salesian Cooperator.

What are the major challenges in vocation growth?

Personally, the nature of my work as a teacher. Sometimes it is hard for me to choose which will be the top of my priorities. But as always, God has a unique way of helping me do both. Second is as to how I manage my children as a family and a wife to my husband. But somehow through this, I can bring them together to be closer to God. Another is the big challenge for me to act or put into action the learnings I got from the formation. To act according to what is expected of me as a Salesian Cooperator. As the years pass by, I am able to gradually put it into practice. In our local center, it is hard for us to encourage somebody to be part of the Salesian Cooperator.

How do you prepare yourself as formator? What do you need for your task?

As a formator, I study the reference of the formation program of the Salesian Cooperator. Also look for other references, also witnessing through the works to the people in the community helps me to become better formator for Salesian Cooperators.

What do you expect from the 2019 EAO Formators Workshop in Cambodia?

The exchange of experiences. I learn from their experience and I can also share my experience as a Salesian Cooperator in my setting.

How do you put into practice the four pillars of formation?

To know how to be as Salesian Cooperator is to act as expected of a Salesian Cooperator. How to be is to share my skills, my personal experience to fellow Cooperators and parishioners, sharing my life as a Cooperator might have a great impact to them.
