Bible copying movement in Mongolia

Darkhan, Mongolia, 16 March 2019 -- With the initiative of Fr Simon Lee, SDB, the rector and the parish priest of Maria Auxilium ‘Bible copying movement’ has begun throughout the whole prefecture of Mongolia. It is about copying the entire Bible by hand and exhibiting it in the church museum for the people to see later. Though, this movement began last year in the Maria Auxilium parish, it has been officially announced to the people of Mongolia to copy the bible, on March 16, 2019 in the Lenten recollection of all the missionaries working here.

On March 16, 2019, Fr Simon Lee, SDB distributed around two thousand five hundred (2,500) books, note books and pens etc. to the people to be given out in each of the parishes and other institutions. This movement is open for all the people, Christians, non-Christians, adults or youth. People are happy about it and appreciate this new way of evangelization. It inspires people and changes their life. People have shared their bible copying experiences positively. They start with the ‘wisdom books’ of the bible and then go to the ‘biblical novellas’ and other parts of the bible. Non-baptized people are learning and getting lots of inspiration for their life.

We hope and believe that this movement will bring people closer to God and at the same time they will be able to live what they copy.
