Salesian Cooperators are growing in the North East of Thailand

By Our Own Correspondent

Udonthani, Thailand, 9 September 2018 -- In the Sunday afternoon of September 9 some 25 Salesian Cooperators of North East of Thailand gathered in Don Bosco School in Udonthani with their Delegates - two FMA Sisters and Fr. Peter Niphon SDB (Rector of Udonthani community and ASC delegate) for an animation encounter with Fr. Klement during the extraordinary visitation.

After short and warm welcome the participant watched short video message of the Rector Major to the EAO 2017 Tokyo Regional Congress, translated to Thai by Fr. Nihpon. A lively presentation of each local Center activity, formation and mission was followed by a short address of the EAO regional councilor. Two centers are attached to FMA community (Udonthani St. Mary and Phonsung) and one to SDB community of Udonthani.

For the growth of their Salesian vocation, the Visitor shared three challenges with all present:

  1. Contribute to the initial stage of 3 new centers formation in Vientiane (Laos), Phonsung and Bungkan Chayaporn (Thailand) with active presence and accompaniment
  2. Contribute to the rejuventation of the Association with possible active presence among the young, especially the SYM (Salesian Youth Movement) or catechesis of Catholic students
  3. Open the minds and hearts to the world-wide Association of Salesian Cooperators through news (EAO - Boscolink) and sharing of own Centers activities with the other ASC around the 23 countries of our EAO region.

In a family environment one Aspirant and one recently promised Salesian Cooperators shared about their vocation journey and life-transformation as disciples of Don Bosco. After photo session in front of Don Bosco Statue the whole encounter was concluded with a meal offered in the school Bon-Cafe.

We pray that also in this North East corner of Thailand and Laos will flourish the vocation of Salesian Cooperators through their mutual help and accompaniment of SDB and FMA communities.
