Gabutu, PNG, 19 August 2018 -- The four communities of Mary Help of Christians – Sabama, Pari, Gabutu and Serekone gathered at Don Bosco Gabutu on 19th August to celebrate the 203rdbirthday of Don Bosco.
Fr. Dominic Kachira sdb, Vice Provincial was the main celebrant at the celebration. Fr. Sonny, Fr. Joseph, Fr Shoji and Fr Ambrose concelebrated at the mass.
Fr Dominic challenged to parishioners to imitate Don Bosco in his zeal for Jesus in the Eucharist and in his love for Mary, venerated as Help of Christians.
A variety of items that included songs and dances displayed the talent of the youngsters. Sharing of food brought in by the Liklik Kristen Komuniti(Small Christian Communities) and the lunch packets provided by the parish were a testimony to the desire of the parish to be one with Mary and Don Bosco.
Basketball, Volleyball, Soccer and Touch Rugby were enjoyed by the young boys and girls of the four communities. Fun gamesfor the kids were a hit. Prizes were given to those who excelled.
The day was truly blessed as the parishioners felt the welcoming presence of the Salesians, the supportive parish leaders and the enthusiastic young people. All are excited and prepare for the Silver Jubilee of the parish to be held in 2019.
