Brasilian Catholics in Japan celebrates Festa Junina

Hamamatsu, Japan, 24 June 2018 -- Last weekend, June 23-24 was celebrated the 20th edition of FESTA JUNINA, a traditional feast of Brasilian Catholic in Hamamatsu - a trully blessed day. Hundreds of faithful, with their families and also the SDB community took part in the event - a true Festival of traditional food (including BBQ), dances, songs and joyful competitions.


FESTA JUNINA (June Festival), also known as the Festa de São João for their part in celebrating the Nativity of St. John the Baptist (June 24), are the annual Brazilian celebrations adapted from European Midsummer festival.


The Catholic families were glad with the presence almost complete local SDB community of Fr. Rául Párraga, Fr. Ambrosio Da Silva and Fr. Joseph Hien. Everybody was happy to enjoy the party in the company of families and friends in a perfect fraternity spirit!


One of the organizers share his enthusiasm: "We thank God for allowing us these happy moments. We give thanks for the intercession of the Patron Saints of Festa Junina. Our thanks goes to everyone who attended this activity of our community! Muito Obrigado - Thanks - Arigato Gosaimasu! A special thanks to all volunteers and sponsors, because without you, it would be impossible to do so! God bless each one of you!"
