Vocation Sunday Oratory with 4000 youth
Gwangju, Korea, 22 April 2018 -- The whole community of Gwangju Shiandong formation house participated in the 55th Vocation Sunday event held in the Gwangju Catholic university (diocesan seminarians from Gwangju, Chonju and Jeju dioceses together with some 5-6 religious congregations, including also our SDB postnovices) on Sunday, April 22nd.
More than 4000 children, young people and volunteers (catechists, religious and parish vocation teams) did participate in the annual event, this year around the theme: "God is calling you!" (John 1, 43).
Among the participants were also religious from 14 different male and female congregations, sharing with the young people and children the joy of living their consecrated vocation. Around the Salesian 'standpoint' (SDB and FMA working together!) had a good chance to proclaim the call for serving the young people like Don Bosco and invite many youth.
Since in Korea the men religious are almost absent in the parishes due to the large numbers of diocesan clergy, every vocation Sunday is a good chance to make known Don Bosco and his mission.
Among the participants of Vocation Sunday event was also the archbishop of Gwangju, Don Bosco Past Pupil, Hyginus Kim Hee Jong and many members of the Salesian Family - FMA, Caritas of Jesus Sisters and Salesian Cooperators as well students of Salesian schools in Gwangju.
