Third international seminar of the PDO - Kenya 2018

Nairobi, Kenya, 27 April 2018 -- The third international Seminar on the Salesian 'PDO' (Planning and development office) is held in Nairobi"" (AFE province) from April 24-27. After the first PDO world encounter (Rome, 2005 with more then 250 participants) and the second PDO seminar (Hyderabad, India, 2011 with more than 100 participants) this third Seminar on 'New management ways of the Salesians - PDO 2018' with 134 participants from all five continents is held in the capital of Kenya, Nairobi.
One of the 12 EAO participants is sharing: "I thought Nairobi's weather is hot and dry as other part of Afrika but in fact it is different since it is green everywhere, i never know that some part of Africa are very green, not as hot as other part of this large continent. So far the meeting is going well, we are 134 participant and twelve of us are from EAO Region as you can see in the picture: from Mongolia delegation (VIE), Cambodia delegation (THA), ITM Viceprovince (Timor Leste), AUL, FIS, FIN, MYM and VIE. [The only EAO member who is not visible in the photo is the Fr Joseph Ba Hung from Vietnam].
The PDO importance and development in the Congregation is highligthed by the presence of Economer General, Br. Jean Paul Muller and many Salesian Mission Office directors and their staff. The participation of many lay mission partners from many continents tells a lot about the importance of professional preparation. From the EAO there are three lay people - from Cambodia (THA) and from the Philippines (FIS and FIN).
After the PDO Road Map 2011, under the guidance of General Economer the Rector Major and his council approved last October a new set of Guidelines for the PDO (October 2017 - available on the Boscolink). All relevant aspects - good practice from all continents, planning, advocacy, formation, networking, fundrasing, PDO within the province structure of animation and government etc are dealt in depth.
