Don Bosco Quetta, Pakistan, 24 December 2020 -- The Salesians of Quetta and their mission partners, the Good Shepherd Sisters, are keeping the spirit of Don Bosco’s mission alive and have organized a badminton tournament for the girls. The first ever sports event for girls organized by any institute in Quetta. Don Bosco has opened its doors to the youngsters of the area while the whole world is locking itself up. The young people of Quetta do not have many options when it comes to places of relaxation, bonding and physical exercise. Prior to this Don Bosco school with the assistance of the Don Bosco Past Pupils had organized Football and Cricket leagues for the young men of Quetta.

The Mamma Margaret Badminton Tournament was joined by more then 20 girls from 5 different ethnic groups and four different beliefs residing in Quetta. Sports are not a common activity for the girls. Lack of opportunity and facilities together with cultural factors keeps them on edge. Don Bosco Mission provided them safe space for them to express their talents. Bro. Piero, new Salesian missionary in the country, and Bro. Faraz together with Sr. Doreen Epitawela, RGS supervised this event and distributed prizesto the all participants and winners.
