Suva, Fiji, 7 October 2021 -- On Friday, 1st October, the community in Suva celebrated Saint Therese of the Child Jesus, patron of the missions together with the installation of Brother Minh Duc to the Ministry of Acolyte. Father James Kyaw-Hoe was the main celebrant and this double celebration was witnessed by the community only since Fiji is still under Covid-19 restrictions and social gatherings are not permitted.
Brother Minh Duc had been serving as a lector in the community for more than nine months and it was a dream as he takes the next step towards his priestly ordination for the Church and the mission here in Fiji.
Brother Michael Harris shared his emotional thoughts with us after the Eucharistic celebration about how he felt during the installation of Brother Minh Duc to the ministry of Acolyte. He said, “I felt emotional when he (Fr. James) handed the paten to Brother Minh Duc. It feels like we are continually being blessed by God in many ways”. He also recalled some memories of our late Reverend Father Mikaele Leilua when he was present during the installation of Brother Minh Duc to the Ministry of Lector early this year.
We continue to pray for Brother Minh Duc as that as he serves God’s people as an Acolyte, he may strengthen his love for the Eucharist and help God’s people to deepen their faith.
