EAO, 24 October 2017 -- I’m glad to share with you a concrete path of preparation for the incoming 7th EAO Salesian Brother Congress in 2018. Almost one year long preparation period will help all our provinces to harvest signification fruits on the journey to strengthen our ‘One Salesian Vocation in two forms’ (as Salesian Brothers and Salesian Priests).

Suggestion for the year-long preparation path towards the EAO Sal. Brother Congress
After a longer period of discernment involving the Salesian Brothers, Formators and receiving concrete feedback during our Parañaque Curatorium meeting (August 24, 2017) with the presence of 10 Provincials or their delegates I’m able to share these three basic contents suggested for next 11 months preparation journey. Each province is invited to approach them with own creativity.
We suggest a three-fold path of EAO Congress preparation (Sep 2017 – August 2018)
- Make an evaluation of your provincial journey regarding the Salesian consecrated life: How is the progress of strengthening or the challenges of weakening of the Salesian consecrated vocation in your province? (Cf: Action plan - resolutions of the EAO Brother Congress:1986-2013)
- Help all confreres to get deeper inside in the ONE SALESIAN VOCATION in two forms: After personal reading of the reflection ‘Dual form of SDB religious vocation’ by Fr. Andrea Bozzolo (2015, Torino) we can deepen in different groups (provincial council, Salesian Brothers or Priest in Quinquennium, Formation commission or in houses of initial formation with these or similar questions:
- What are the difficulties in assuming in depth the identity of the two forms of the one Salesian vocation?
- How do we present the two forms of the Salesian vocation to the novices or the young?
- What elements do we offer for discernment of the form of the Salesian vocation?
- Help to raise the visibility of the Salesian Brother in the Catholic Church, in the Salesian Family and among the Young people: We invite to produce at least 5 visual presentation about Salesian Brothers in each EAO province (living or those who passed away). In order to help the visibility we need first to listen to the Brothers (interview or vocation of life story telling are important tools).
