Accompaniment of Paranaque Formation - Curatorium 2017

Paranaque City, the Philippines, 24 August 2017 -- As every year the 11 provincials or their delegates gathered in Paranaque City for their annual Curatorium meeting with the rectors and economer of the three communities of Paranaque - Seminaryo ng Don Bosco (specific formation for priests), Blessed Steven Sandor (specific formation for Brothers) and Blessed Philip Rinaldi community (Don Bosco Center of Studies).


The full day meeting was started with a 6 AM Eucharist presided by the EAO Regional Councilor and followed with the morning session enriched by the input of Fr. Chito Dimaranan (FIN) related resources link about social media impact on ongoing formation attitude and dialogue between the formators and EAO province and delegation superiors. In the afternoon session the present Provincials (CIN, FIN, FIS, ITM, KOR), Viceprovincials (GIA, MYM), Superior of Delegation (Cambodia, Indonesia) and Formation delegate (VIE) discussed major concerns emerging from the morning session and reviewed the EAO 2018 Regional calendar with a special attention to the EAO Salesian Brother Congress preparation.


At present there are 43 SDB Students of theology (SnDB) and 15 Salesian Brothers (Sandor community) coming from 10 EAO and 4 South Asia provinces. Based in the Rinaldi community more perpetually professed confreres are pursuing different studies as part of their qualification in other non Salesian institutions.


Curatorium participants also agreed on support for the online - digital library access, visited the construction site of the new Blessed Steven Sandor community building and realized that almost 20 new students maybe coming for the next school year 2018-2019 for their initial formation to the Paranaque formation communities.


Before and after the Curatorium meeting all visiting Superiors dedicated ample time for a personal talk to their confreres who are growing in their vocation out of their province. Among the formators and teaching staff there are some new faces. The Curatorium participants were especially happy to welcome Fr. Andrew Wong, who was assigned to the Blessed Sandor community after his 3 years term as Rector in Jerusalem.


Next Curatorium of the formation communities in Paranaque is scheduled for 22 August 2018.
