By Our Own Correspondent

EAO, 5 March 2017 -- According the GC27 Deliberation n. 14 (2014) was confirmed the validity of the 'Team Visit' as an instrument of animation of the Congregation, according to flexible ways, that permit direct listening and sharing. The first Team Visit of this 6 year period (2014-2020) was held in Chennai, India for the South Asia Region. The second of the 8 events around the Congregation is the EAO Team Visit.

During past 40 years was established in the Congregation one regular and flexible opportunity of communion, animation at regional level. After the establishment of the EAO (East Asia - Oceania) Region in 2002 by the General Chapter 25, next week will be held already the third EAO Team Visit in Hua Hin, Thailand, March 7-10. The Rector Major, his Vicar with six General Councilors (Formation, Youth Ministry, Social Communication, Missions and EAO Regional) and the Delegate of the RM for the Salesian Family will meet all 11 Provincial Councils of our Region. Among the 97 participants are also seven EAO Coordinators for various sectors of our mission.

On the agenda is the in-depth Study of the EAO Region, with the help of the General Council reflection about the EAO region held in March 2015. During 4 full days time the participants will deepen seven themes based on the reality of our 11 provinces and 6 delegations. Each province was invited to share one or two good practice through a short video, that is also available on the Youtube.

The Hua Hin Salesian campus is located in the bustling sea shore town, with a 70 years old established Don Bosco presence made of School (4000 students), Parish of St Therese (with many migrant Catholics), Don Bosco Retreat house (venue of the Team Visit), Salesian Junior Aspirantate and adjacent General House of the SIHM Congregation (member of the Salesian Family).

We pray for the safe journey and fruitful time of listening and sharing. May this precious EAO regional opportunity foster the sens of belonging to our Region, help the reshaping of Salesian presences through an overall vision of all sectors, facilitate better mutual knowledge, synergy and possible coordination among our EAO provinces with 1500 Salesians!
