Canlubang (Philippines)

By Our Own Correspondent

Canlubang, the Philippines, 25 August 2017 -- The Salesian citadel of Canlubang has already more than 50 years old history. Side by side we find three SDB and three FMA communities. Not less than 4 of them are formation houses. In the SDB houses there are mostly formed the Filipino candidates (Aspirants and Prenovices) and postnovices from FIN and FIS provinces.

However for the FMA sisters it's a wonderful multi-cultural formation venue that brings together more than 40 Aspirants, Postulants and Novices of first and second year. There is an amazing diversity of nationalities - Philippines, Cambodia, China, Sri Lanka, Myanmar, Thailand, Pakistan and Singapore.

Canlubang formation houses are also a fitting venue for some EAO FMA sister who come to the Philippines for their English language studies or are preparing for their missionary assignment - at present there is one Korean missionary for Mongolia.

During a brief animation visit at the SDB Canlubang postnovitiate on August 25, the EAO regional councilor was happy to visit this wonderful communities and interact after few years with the formators and FMA in initial formation.

We pray that this rich multicultural formation FMA house will foster more new Salesian religious and missionary vocations for many Asian countries!
