Vice Province of Myanmar (MYM)
Anisakan, Myanmar, 31 March 2019 -- The Vice Province of Myanmar held its Provincial Chapter 2019 from 25-30 March, 2019. This is the 5th Provincial Chapter since the erection of the Vice Province in 2004. The Chapter is held every three years as prescribed.
The Chapter members gathered together at Don Bosco Renewal Center in Anisakan at 6:30 p.m. The GC28 theme and the regulations of PC 2019 were presented. The evening was spent prayerfully with prayers and Eucharistic Adoration.
On 26 March at 8:30 a.m. a prayer service for the opening of the Provincial Chapter was held. During the service, chapter members lit the candle while they sang the Veni Creator. Then the Scripture passage on the Vine and the branches (Jn 15:1-6) was read by Fr Edward Sein Myint and followed by reading of the Constitutions and silent reflection. The prayer service concluded with the prayer of intercession and a Hymn to Don Bosco.
After the appointment of offices, at 9:06 a.m. in the name of the President, Fr. Charles Saw Thi Han Lwin, Superior of the Vice Province and with the consent of the assembly, Fr Mariano Soe Naing, moderator, declared the Chapter open.
As usual, prior to the reflection on the theme of GC28 there was the presentation by the Superior of the Vice Province on the state of the Vice Province. There were clarifications, questions and answers on the presentation of the Superior. The Provincial Economer, Fr. Leo Mang also presented the financial status of the Vice Province.
March 26 and 27 were dedicated to an exploration of the theme of GC28 and the juridical questions presented by the Rector Major and the General Council. After exploring these in the four commissions, the contribution to the GC28 theme was discussed and voted on in the assembly in the morning session on 28 March. The afternoon sessions on 28 March were dedicated to reflection on the Directory of the Province and the Formation Directory. On 29 March the SEPP of the Vice Province was presented and studied in the various commissions. In the afternoon session, Fr Bosco Zeya Aung was elected as the MYM delegate to GC28 and Fr Leo Mang as his substitute.
At 6:00 a.m. on 30 March, a Thanksgiving Mass was celebrated at which Fr Charles, Superior of the Vice Province presided. Then, the chapter members gathered in the chapter hall for the final hearing and approval of the minutes of the previous day. T he Moderator, in the name of the President and with the approval of the assembly, declared the Chapter closed at 7:39 a.m.
