By our own correspondent

Tokyo, Japan, 11 December 2022 -- On December 8, 2022, the Feast of the Immaculate Conception of Mary, the Salesian Family gained three new members. These three sisters are members of the Caritas Sisters of Jesus. Also, at the Tokyo provincial house of the Caritas sisters of Jesus, three sisters made their perpetual vows. Congratulations! Two of the three newly professed Sisters are Vietnamese and one is Japanese. The three sisters who made perpetual vows come from Vietnam.

In the Solemn Eucharist, the Archbishop of Tokyo, Tarcisius Isao Kikuchi, S.V.D. stressed:

"Humans are fighting the plague. And now almost the whole world is ruled by violence. But we should always remember: Life is a gift from God. We need to appreciate life... Political unrest in Burma continues. Russia attacks Ukraine. Life should be respected yet our world is playing with life. We are called to live in harmony, to accept each other... During his 2019 visit in Japan, Pope Francis said: 'No one can live alone. We need each other.' May the Holy Spirit help us to help each other grow... in this difficult situation. The Church wants us to light up the hope of Christ because he is the source of our hope."

Fr. Jacob Hamaguchi, SDB Provincial of Japan and some Salesian confreres also attended this Solemn Profession Mass. Some other of members of the Salesian Family were also present. Bishops, priests, religous and friends from Vietnam also came to pray for the Caritas sisters of Jesus.

The Caritas Sisters of Jesus Congregation was founded in 1937 in Miyazaki, Japan and now has more than 900 members in 16 different countries in all 5 continents. We pray that also our three newly professed Sisters may become an effective sign of God's love for the most disadvantaged people.
