Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea
May 2019 - 538 young people from various parishes, schools and university institutions in Port Moresby gathered in the shrine of Mary Help of Christians from 25 to 26 May for the "Marian Camp", an annual activity of the local ADMA Youth group, called "300 Youth for Mary". With the "Marian Camp", through songs, dances, presentations, and sharing, the young participants were challenged by the coordinators to be "servants-animators" of the young people in their contexts. The event culminated in an evening of prayer, in which many young people received the sacrament of reconciliation. The Apostolic Nuncio celebrated the final Eucharist, and challenged the participants to imitate the Marian virtues. The archdiocesan shrine of Mary Help of Christians at Boroko East, Port Moresby, is very popular and is the spiritual heart of the Salesian Vice Province of Blessed Philip Rinaldi (PGS) and of the whole Salesian family in Melanesia.
